A high-level consultative mission from the Asian Development Bank visited the Industries, Commerce, Investment, and Skills Development Department to have an overview of TVET Sector in Punjab and for enhancing mutual cooperation. During the meeting, various departments within ICI&SD provided detailed presentations about their respective initiatives.

The Provincial Secretary for the Industries, Commerce, Investment, and Skills Development Department, Mr. Ehsan Bhutta, along with other key figures such as Chairman TEVTA Mr. Brigadier (R) Muhammad Sajid Khokhar and Director General Punjab Skills Development Authority Ms. Sahibzadi Waseema Umer, attended the meeting. After having an overview of the TVET ecosystem, the team apprised the mission about some of the initiatives taken so far like holding skills summer camps for students of schools and colleges, provision of technical education to students of religious institutions establishment and women’s incubation centers. 

Chairman TEVTA discussed challenges in the TVET sector and measures taken to address these. Project Director Mr. Zohaib Mushtaq presented progress on the project, highlighting its potential to transform Punjab’s TVET landscape by providing relevant, quality TVET training to the workforce, enhancement of equitable access to TVET in 8 priority economic sectors as well as Institutional Strengthening of TVET institutions.

Later the mission also visited the Govt. College of Technology for Women at Lytton Road, Lahore which is proposed as Centre of Excellence under project. The Mission appreciated the steps taken by the department for promotion of the TVET sector in the province and assured their cooperation in this regard.
